Rugby got some surprising notoriety his first show out. The judge's comments were along the lines of "..good conformation...unfortunate color..". Despite this, we have been assured that:

1. There is nothing wrong with his color
2. That he has good structure and is a beautiful mover
3. He might finish, if, among other things, he could keep a show coat (he has highly sensitive skin).

After two years in the ring, however, we are moving on to other things.

Rugby's a happy dog, if a bit aloof from the girls in our home. He's more attached to us than his kennel mates, hating to be separated from his dad for very long. Roxy and Anna have helped reconcile him to periods at home without the humans around, however, and occasionally bring out his more playful side.

Rugby is a surprisingly strong, birdie dog. We hope to channel his athletic talents and his love for us in agility, obedience and field work. We will continue to show him in conformation, but only at special events (e.g., local specialties), just to remind the fancy that there are many, beautiful colors in this wonderful breed.
